Mrs. Nelson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Winthrop University (1986), a Master's Degree in Education (1990) from the University of South Carolina, and a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (1997) from the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Nelson is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in Library Media for Early Childhood through Young Adult (Initial certification 2004, re-certified 2014) and a Google Certified Innovator (2014). She is a Google Certified Educator Level 1 and Level 2. She is married (Clyde) with two adult sons. She is an avid reader and is involved with several professional organizations, including the South Carolina Association of School Librarians, the South Carolina Association of Educational Technology, the American Association of School Librarians, and the American Library Association. She strongly believes in being a life-long learner and that means staying up on technologies in an effort to provide a meaningful and relevant library media program for the school community. Mrs. Nelson is retiring from Dorman at the end of the 203-2024 school year.
